Education
Inspired by Broadway shows, feature films, and other arts and entertainment properties, the Broadway Education Alliance is establishing an end-to-end strategy for publishing and distributing traditional and digital lesson plans. All materials are author-approved, rights protected, grade-banded, and aligned to National Standards in English Language Arts, History/Social Studies, Social Emotion Learning, STEM, and The Arts.
AT THIS STAGE® is a series of FREE, theatre-themed theatre workshops for elementary, middle, and high schools as well as certified homeschool networks.
AT THIS STAGE is produced in collaboration with a coalition of Performing Arts Centers and Foundations around the United States who are committed to providing teachers everywhere with access to authorized theatre education programming. The AT THIS STAGE catalog features topics aligned to core standards in Behavioral Studies, Careers, Character Education, Language Arts, History, Life Skills, Music, Science/Technology/Math, Social Studies, and The Arts. Each virtual workshop includes a lesson plan featuring grade-banded activities, assignments, and student worksheets, as well as a 35-minute live moderated discussion with a special guest. Session recordings are also available to registered teachers.
Working with theatrical producers, presenters, and artists, AT THIS STAGE, is fast becoming Broadway’s source for integrated curriculum and a digital connection that enables teachers and students to engage with the world’s learning artists in a relevant and meaningful way.
StageNotes
Inspired by dozens of Broadway shows, StageNotes study guides are filled with informative, accessible and original content. Every guide was written by professional writers in collaboration with the show’s creative team and vetted by educators. Over the years, we have worked with the who’s who from Peter Shaffer, author of Amadeus to Lin-Manuel Miranda, author of In The Heights and Hamilton.
PBS STEAM on Stage & Screen
The Broadway Education Alliance, a New York based nonprofit committed to making the theatre more accessible and inclusive for middle and high schools, and WPBS-TV, the PBS affiliate station in Northern New York, have partnered to create a new series of educational videos from Broadway called “At This Stage” to illuminate the important role The Arts can play in K-12 education.
The At This Stage series premieres with AT THIS STAGE: STEAM ON STAGE AND SCREEN, a collection of 15 video modules with accompanying curriculum materials, for middle school and high school classrooms.
The series is now available on the PBS Learning Media platform and free for teachers, librarians, homeschoolers, and others across the country to use in-school and after-school.
